BEWARE OF SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scams  are designed to trick you into giving away your money or your personal details. Scams come to you in many forms – by mail, email, telephone, over the Internet and door-to-door. There are several methods that scammers use to steal your money or personal details. The following are two common ones:

1. Great promises
Scammers try to trick you in by promising things like great prizes, true love or easy money. But before they deliver anything, they will ask you to send money or give them your bank account or credit card numbers or other personal details. They never deliver what you expect and always rip you off.
2. Requests for your personal details
Scammers pretend to be legitimate banks or businesses. They approach you out of the blue with leaflets, letters, emails, websites or phone calls with requests that seem like the real thing. Then they’ll give a reason as to why you need to provide them with your personal details, like your credit card number, password, bank account number etc. But genuine organisations don’t usually make such unsolicited requests. If you provide them with your personal details they could steal your money and your identity.
How can you protect yourself from Scammers?
When an offer looks too good THINK TWICE!
Do not agree to offers or deals straight away. Always get independent advice if an offer involves significant money, time or commitment.
Do not let anyone pressure you into making decisions about money or investment.
Remember that there are no get-rich-quick schemes.
Beware of products or schemes that claim to guarantee income or winnings.
Be wary or investments promising a high return with little or no risk.
Never send money or give credit card or online account details to anyone you do not know and trust.
Only give out your personal details and information where it is absolutely necessary and where you have initiated the contact and you trust the other party.
Keep your credit and ATM cards safe; do not share  your personal identity number with anyone. Do not keep any written copy of the PIN with the card.
Read all the terms and conditions of any offer carefully: claims of free or very cheap offers often have hidden costs.
Beware of job that offers require you to pay an upfront fee.
Do not send any money or pay any fee to claim a prize or winnings.
Do not agree to transfer money for someone else; it is money laundering which is a criminal offence.
Do not rely on glowing testimonials; find solid evidence from independent sources (not those provided with the offer)
